This year our PINK recipient is Lana Studer, a native from Rensselaer, IN. Sadly, 17 years ago, Lana lost her husband,(Gary), and became a widow at the age of 49 years old. Over the years Lana has watched her family grow and loves spending her time with her children, grandchildren and her 2 CUTE fur babies that keep her in good company. Recently, Lana shared with the team that she has suffered from a birth defect that caused a lifetime of hip issues and difficulties associated with pain. Lana has undergone MULTIPLE surgeries over her lifetime to try and correct her hips, but all efforts failed, and Lana became an amputee all BEFORE being diagnosed with Breast Cancer last year.

On April 16th ,2021, Lana was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Breast Cancer. After more testing and multiple doctor visits, it was confirmed, Lana had Triple Positive Inflammatory Breast Cancer Stage 3B. Lana and her family discussed 4 different treatment options that the oncologist presented and ways to approach this devastating disease. After MUCH consult and discussion as a family unit, they made a decision that would give Lana the best quality of life. Lana proceeded with Option 4. It was decided as the BEST option for treatment, and one that would make Lana the most comfortable. Anti-hormone therapy was used, followed by a mastectomy. Today Lana is optimistic, she is past her mastectomy surgery and has been healing. Lana had a port put in for her Herceptin infusions, to make things a little easier. Over the holidays Lana became ill with Covid, but thankfully had a mild case, she is home recovering and regaining her strength. We sure admire Lana and how she has overcome every obstacle in her life! We are excited to CELEBRATE this special lady!!
